5 Scriptures to Teach Mothers to Live Simpler Lives

Hi Beautiful,

We've all had moments in life when everything becomes too much and we're more on our feet than relaxing.

I can remember when I first had children and I didn't have a solid routine, I was doing so much that each night I was so exhausted. Trying to do so much a day to cater to the family meant that I was cranky, tired and not communicating properly. Creating a simple life for yourself, and leaning on God throughout brings peace, order and structure. You'll finally get to focus on other things in your life and sleep well.
These tips I use have been helping me for the last few years and now that I pray in every area of my life, I know it's not by my strength.

Which means I'm living better and fulfilled just like you can too.

Five ways to simply your life:

1. Planning everything out

"Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it."
Habakkuk 2:2

I enjoy being organised and having my plans together (I wasn't always like this) but as I've got into a nice habit of writing ideas and planning my days out, it has simplified my weeks and months.

Creating plans has helped me take a step back, not rush to do things and focus on being better. Without a plan, I may not get things done, forget and end up "wasting" time on really important things I wanted to conquer in life. It starts small.

Here are a few things I have written plans for:
Children's clothes and monthly activities
Cleaning schedule
My 3-6 months goals
Meal planning
Running to-do list
Self-care
and so on, you can have a list of as many things as you would like.

The Lord said to make it clear once we come to Him for direction, we can try not to overcomplicate things, and write how and what we feel in our planner. Being organised with plans and schedules brings ease and simplicity. Especially as a mum, you won't feel guilty setting the time to work on your goals because you've also set time for the children.

You can use planners, notepads, phones and even your Google calendar.

2. Prayer

Giving all worries onto the Lord, we are not meant to carry it all on our backs.

"One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray
and spent the night praying to God"
Luke 6:12

For me as soon as I pray and tell God about everything I feel at peace. Jesus took the time to pray and refocused, that's what we should follow and set the time to talk to Him about all the things that aren't simple, straightforward or together as we would like.

Know that God wants you to have a simple and abundant life with Him. Prayer works and God will direct you and give you ideas and put things and people in your path for your life to be fruitful.

3. Journalling

This simplifies your life by letting all your emotions out.

Journaling can help to clear your head of thoughts, worries and tasks.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Matthew 7:24

We can journal with God and pray into areas of our lives that need a little more love and attention.

This is an underrated task, that has helped changed my thinking and life in a great way. It's not just writing down how your day was, but really asking the necessary questions to go deeper with thoughts and feelings and trying to live better and simpler when dealing with difficult times or emotional days.

Journal prompts to start with (these always help me to get started)
- how am I feeling?
- did I have any triggers today?
- What are five things that went well today?
- What can I say yes to this week?

4 Using the night before efficiently

Another way I have made life easier is by setting up the night before, preparing packed lunches to setting the children's clothes out. From putting my workout gear out (to not disturb my family as I'm up early) and even prepping my water bottle with lemons so it's fresh and cold for the morning workout.

"She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants."
Proverbs 31:15

When you are better prepared, you are more organised, you don't have to rush and you can focus on looking cute and being sweet. Because all is in order. You also have room for any unexpected situations.

5 Self care; Prioritising yourself

I'm a big supporter of self-care and taking the time to relax and explore new things in life. I've been very intentional with self-care and recognising exactly when I need it and communicating that to my family also. To simplify my life I have put in place days where I'm on solo brunches, dinners and trips. I've started new hobbies and revisited childhood hobbies too. I have been working on my skincare and building up my beauty products.

'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. '
2 Corinthians 5:17

As well as having the intention, I also learned so much about myself, what I like, what I need, and my boundaries. It's been a lovely journey and I encourage you also to approach self-care differently and take the time for yourself. It's not just about running a bath (which is great though I might add) but there are so many more aspects;

Intellectual
Emotional
Social
Financial
Physical
Spiritual

I pray you have peace in your life and that these points can bring new ideas on how you can simplify your life and workload. It takes time to create a great routine and schedule but the more you work on it the more you'll find your groove.
