10 Ways to Get Closer to God

Hi Beautiful!

I know we may struggle sometimes to draw closer to God, even praying or being obedient. I do know that as long as we keep trying and remain consistent we will experience the presence and greatness of God. So I thought, what could I do each day or week to draw in and build my relationship with the Lord?

Let’s read on…

1. Be real
Write a list of all you are grateful for, a list on the things you don't like about your life and then what you need to work on. Then thank God for all the great things, pray over the not so good things and then ask God for guidance for the things you need to work on

2. Good music
Get in a good habit of worshipping Him. Make a playlist or watch music videos online for motivation. If you can't do much right now, then the little you can do is love on God by praising Him.

3. Join a plan
Try and find a Bible study daily plan on apps or online (Pinterest has loads) you can read a short scripture a day and build up as you go alone. When you want to go a bit deeper, try looking at a study Bible to see what the scriptures mean. Always keep a journal to write down what comes to the heart.

4. Write it down
Keep a journal. Buy a pretty one that you would want to look at and take around with you. Write down thoughts, prayers, notes and so on. You'll be surprised how much you can start writing or how far you've come through the moments on your spiritual journey.

5.Pray!

Honestly, let it out.

Pray and think about God throughout the day, before you do anything ask Him about it and pray over everything you do. Eventually, it becomes second nature, Jesus wants us to ask for what we want through Him. Build a relationship with God, not a religion.

"Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

John 14:6‭-‬7

6. Buddy up
Have someone in your life that checks in on you or is on the same Bible plan. Having someone to talk to about your thoughts and worries really does help. Maybe connect with someone at church or someone similar online. It doesn't hurt to seek friendship, someone else may need some encouragement

7. Church time
Attending a church brings security, fellowship and guidance. Taking the time out to travel and stay at church, to listen to the Word, can plant good seeds in you throughout the week. There are so many people to connect with in church, and if your church has activities, events or conferences, it would be nice to join one. In your own time

8. Wake up
Setting the alarm 10 minutes early to talk to God and have some quiet time is quality. Morning devotions set the day and keep your mind and heart in check.

9. Trust the process
We all fall sometimes and the most important aspect is to get back on your feet and keep praising. We may pray for a long time for what we want but trusting God in everything is important. All good things come to those who wait on the Lord (see what I did there)

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him."
Psalm 28:7

10. Read
Not only reading the Bible but getting some good books from Christian writers and bloggers puts you in a better position for understanding. Sometimes we can read the scriptures and not know what it's saying. Others that God has called forward might have a better and more relatable way of explaining things.

I hope this helped and blessing on your journey. The most important thing is to continue no matter what, the more you seek Him the closer you get and you will hear Him more and know His voice.
